Questions About Civil War Getaway?
It’s natural to have questions before you take a trip. Here are some we often hear:
- What makes Civil War Getaway different from other tours?
Our guests are looking for more than a history lecture – they want to experience history. They want more than what a pamphlet or guidebook can offer, and we give it to them.
- How long does the tour last?
Typically, a little over two hours.
- How much time do you spend at each stop?
There’s nothing worse than being herded through a tour like cattle. At Civil War Getaway, each stop is like a miniskirt: long enough to
cover the essentials, but short enough to keep you interested. We spend as much time as our guests like, within the timeframe we’re allowed.
- Why don’t you go to the top of Kennesaw Mountain or the battlefield’s visitor center?
Both attractions are wonderful and are worth seeing. The visitor center offers a splendid museum, an excellent movie and a large gift
shop. But you can easily visit them on your own; we prefer taking you to out-of-the-way places that many people often miss.
- Do I need to order my tickets in advance?
Yes! Seating is limited, and we need to know how many people to expect and plan accordingly. Same day reservations are welcome. Just
call us at (678) 767-3626 or send an e-mail to CivilWarGetaway@comcast.net. Tell us what day and time you’d like to reserve, and how many adults and children will be in your party. You don’t pay for your tickets until the time of the tour. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard and
Discover. (Sorry, we’re unable to accept American Express at this time. No checks, please.)
- Will there be much walking?
Not really. It’s all very easy walking on level ground. The longest we’ll walk is at Cheatham Hill, where we’ll follow a smooth .25 mile gravel path.
- What should I wear?
If you’re joining us in the summer, remember: this is the Deep South! It’s hot and humid here, so shorts and loose shirts and blouses are recommended. We’ll stay in the shade as much as possible during our stops, plus the vehicle is air conditioned and there’s bottled water
to drink, too! But count on it being plenty warm outside.
- Are children welcome?
Of course! It’s a great way to introduce them to our country’s rich past. From toddlers to seniors, the whole family will enjoy your visit.
- What if it rains?
A lot of planning and preparation goes into every Civil War Getaway tour. But the one thing we can’t control is the weather. Our tours are held rain or shine. If it begins to rain during your tour, we have alternative attractions to make sure your visit is still enjoyable.
- Why should I invest in a Civil War Getaway tour?
Remember dad’s advice: you get what you pay for. Yes, our tickets cost a little more. But our guests want something beyond the usual vacation fare. For price comparison, consider a two-hour tour of Gettysburg by a licensed guide costs $50 and up, and local drive-by tours typically charge around $20 for 45 minutes. By choosing Civil War Getaway, you’ll have a stand apart experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
